According to the model-based decomposition method a target
matrix can be decomposed into a combination of physical scattering
mechanisms, which correspond to the surface (PS), double-bounce
(PD), volume (PV), and helix scattering (PC) mechanisms (Yamaguchi
et al., 2005). This type of decomposition is based on simple scattering
models that lead to an easy-to-interpret scatter type discrimination.
