The multiple environmental and agrotechnical benefits are further reinforced by the universal applicability of the products from the crop. The main product from the crop is seed containing highly unsaturated oil with about 15% linoleic acid (18:2n-6) and about 38% α-linoleic acid (18:3n-3). From the nutritional point of view, both these fatty acids are essential, and α-linolenic acid represents OMEGA-3 fatty acids. The oil is suitable for culinary application and for technical exploitation e.g. in varnishes, cosmetics, etc. (Zubr, 1997).
