KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 — The authorities should apply the same treatment to all future public demonstrations, Bersih 2.0 said today after organisers of this Wednesday’s “red shirts” rally received City Hall’s and the police’s approval for their city gathering.
The polls watchdog’s chairman Maria Chin Abdullah noted that unlike the “red shirts” rally, the Bersih 4 gathering last month saw the authorities clamping down on organisers, with the ministry even gazetting a ban on yellow “Bersih 4” T-shirts a day before the event.
