Discussion
It has taken nine months for a partnership agreement to be signed, a whole school audit completed and collated and a collaborative action plan agreed on. This time has been spent establishing relationships and committees, providing in-service information opportunities for staff, as well as designing, administering and collating audits. Conducting a school audit is considered to be one of the key elements in establishing a HPS (5,6), and it has certainly been beneficial in establishing the main health concerns of the school community. This activity took a large percentage of the HPO’s time and would be difficult for a member of the teaching staff to organize, particularly if they also have a large teaching load.
