According to the “Economic Freedom of the World: 2013 Annual report”, Hong Kong was ranked as the world’s number one free economy. The country gained 89.3 of 100 points (the average level in the world is 59.6 points). Interestingly, the former British colony that became the first Special Administrative Region of China in 1997 under the principle of “one country, two systems” is the champion of the rating. All nineteen reports that have been released since 1995 suggest that the country is on top of the world. Hong Kong is one of the leading financial and trading centers in Asia and in the world as a whole. Following the policy of the British Empire, Hong Kong government gives priority to free market and private sector.
