In “Story An Hour,” a short story by Kate Chopin was written in 1894, which was in a time period where women did not dare spoken out their felling Chopin showed about the problems of women independence, love and marriage. The readers could sense that a series of events took in short period of time as the name of the story “Story An Hour”. It mentioned about the belief that Mrs. Mallard was dead. Chopin showed the grief feeling through Mrs. Mallard when she known that her husband was dead. She thought that independence became to her. She could say only as “free, free, free” for her new life. The story did not end perfectly when her husband did not die. Freedom leaved her when she went down the stairs. She stepped from the heaven of freedom to the hell of marriage again to face her husband. Death was the only way to help her from oppression, so if she wanted the independence, she could escape only by walking into death.
