Descriptive survey methodology and a
correlational design were used in this study. The
dependent variable was youth leadership and life
skills development. The independent variables
were participation in FFA leadership activities,
participation in nonFFA leadership activities,
achievement expectancy, years in the FFA, age,
gender, self-reported cumulative grades, and place
of residence. Both the dependent and independent
variables were ascertained after their natural
occurrence. The instrument used was The Iowa
FFA Youth Leadership Life Skills Development
Questionnaire, developed by the researcher,
contained individual sections for measuring the
dependent and independent variables. Cronbach’s
Alpha was calculated for each section and the total
instrument. The coefficient of reliability for the
total instrument in this study
