periodic in-service training on techniques and procedures for urinary
catheter insertion, maintenance, and removal (IB).
41% provided annual validation training of staff who insert IUCs.
Provide education about CAUTI, other complications of urinary
catheterization, and alternatives to IUCs (IB).
72% offered education for nursing staff related to CAUTI prevention
in the previous year.
Consider implementing a system for documenting the following in the patient
record: indications for catheter insertion, date and time of catheter
insertion, individual who performed insertion, and date and time of
catheter removal (II).
