Further, GC–MS analysis is a
powerful technique that could be used in forensic investigations of
carbofuran poisoning to identify both carbofuran and its metabolite
carbofuran phenol. The ability to identify carbofuran phenol
using GC–MS made the forensic investigations more accurate and
meaningful, because presence of carbofuran phenol could be the
proof for administration or ingestion of carbofuran, even when
carbofuran itself is absent in biological specimens.
