Bridge Converter: A switching converter topology
that utilizes a full bridge circuit (four switching
elements) or half bridge circuit (two switching
elements). This topology is more common in offline
(ac input) supplies than DC/DC converters.
Bridge converters can provide high output power
and low output ripple, but tend to be more complex
than other power converter topologies. The added
circuit complexity increases cost and may reduce
reliability. See Boost Regulator, Buck Regulator,
Flyback Converter, Forward Converter, Push-
Pull Converter and Resonant Converter.
