Olympus M1 Silver Camera Body, Serial No 150641.
This camera is a very clean example of the Olympus M1. The film pressure plate stamping would indicate a January 1973 manufacture.
I am selling this camera as a unit for repair as the self timer is seized which does not allow the shutter release to return after being pressed and subsequently allow a frame advance. You can remove the base plate and moved the slider at the front which allows film advance lever to be indexed. I assume on this basis the non functioning issue is not too great an issue to get fixed.
The camera has the following positive attributes:
Body in very good to excellent overall condition for its age.
Film advance lever winds nicely (once the slider is pushed).
Shutter releases nicely (and sounds nice) at all shutter speeds (once the slider is pushed).
Light meter works although the accuracy cannot be ascertained.
Film chamber is exceptionally clean except for the light seals which have degraded and need replacing. The correct small pressure plate for an M1 is fitted.
View finder is clear with only a very tiny spot of foam degradation on the prism and minimal dust is to be seen. The AR coating on the viewfinder is totally unmarked and the surround bezel is the best I have seen on an M1.
The leatherette covering is clean, tight and unmarked. Only at the lower point next to the film door hinge is a minor lift starting.
The mirror chamber is clean and the mirror unmarked. Shutter curtain is tight and in good condition. A 1-12 focussing screen is fitted which is incorrect for an M1, it should be a 1-1 (a correct new 1-1 will be supplied loose).
Mirror lock up works.
Battery chamber is clean.
Lens mount surface is in very good condition.
This camera is just right for a full clean, lubricate and adjust service and is priced accordingly.
Shipping to locations other than US may be considered. Please ask prior to bidding.
