Hello Phoowanon,
We’ve had a busy summer here at YouGov – thanks for sharing your views and taking part.
One of the biggest stories of the past month was our research into sexuality, following Professor Kinsey's famous study of the 1960s. He believed that people sit on a sexuality scale between homosexual and heterosexual. We asked people to plot themselves on that scale and the results were fascinating: while the older generations were much more decided about being one or the other, nearly 1 in 2 of today’s 18-24 year olds were comfortable allowing the possibility that they are not 100% straight.
With one week to go before the results of the Labour leadership, we looked into YouGov Profiles data on the supporters of the different leadership candidates. We discovered that it is not only policies that separate Jeremy Corbyn’s supporters from the others – the differences extend to personality and a general outlook on life.
Finally, here’s a somewhat gloomy statistic: 37% of British workers say their job makes absolutely no meaningful contribution to the world. It’s all very well aiming for low unemployment, but the research raises the bigger question of what kind of work are we asking people to spend their days doing.
Thanks again for taking part – and don’t hesitate to be in touch if you have ideas for topics we should be tackling. Share this with your friends, too - if they join YouGov using your unique referral link, you both earn bonus points!
All the best,
Freddie Sayers
