Perceived access to healthy diets was
a 3-level categorical variable constructed using the following items
from the ELCSA:‘‘In the past month,
was your home without money or
other resources to obtain a healthy
and varied diet?’’ and the follow-up
frequency question,‘‘If yes, how often
did this happen to you?’’ Households
responding ‘‘No’’ or ‘‘Yes’’ and
‘‘Rarely’’ were classified as having
high PAHD, those responding‘‘Yes’’
and ‘‘Sometimes’’ were classified as
having moderate PAHD, and those
responding ‘‘Yes’’ and ‘‘Frequently’’
were classified as having low PAHD
