Music is a unique language. In fact, music really is the ONLY international language. Just like any other language, though, it is spoken differently depending on where in the world you are. There are countless different “dialects”, genres, styles, and interpretations of this language. If you were taking a trip to Italy, you would not only study written Italian language, but you would probably study aural examples as well. It is almost unheard of to try and learn a language without hearing it first, and this is why we should always make sure our music students are studying their music aurally.
