The New Zealand example showed how collaboration between dietitians and midwifery educators can work to provide midwives with the best evidence-based nutrition knowledge.
It included the stages of developing an optional nutrition paper using different models based on students’ feedback on what can help them to deliver better nutrition advice. What is promising is the students in the study suggested that this education needed to be compulsory.
Registered midwives would also be offered the opportunity to benefit from the nutrition exercise.
