The model shows good results when validated against the micro simulation software
RailSys. Model response is satisfactory when parameters such as traffic density,
heterogeneity, primary delays and inter-station distance are changed. Some differences
between the two models become apparent in the validation process and concerns how
early trains are modelled. In the model trains ahead of schedule are allowed to use
available running time allowance to run faster than planned, while this is not the case in
RailSys. In this paper it mostly affects the results of freight trains.
