Improvement of the sulfur recovery degree in Claus plants is an important
environmental protection task related to desulfurization of natural
gas and oil. The main tool for increase of sulfur recovery efficiency
over the last few decades is the application of Claus tail gas clean-up
processes, including those based on selective catalytic oxidation of hydrogen
sulfide into sulfur by oxygen [1]. These processes use the catalysts
on the base of iron oxides, supported on granular or monolith
silica or alumina supports [2,3]. Such FeOx-based catalysts are characterized
with the high H2S oxidation selectivity into sulfur.
