Boonsong Thooksing holds on to the power line, hanging in the air, before being rescued.
Boonsong Thooksing, 50, told bystanders as he was clinging on to the power line that he had quarreled with people back in his home village in Chiang Rai province and that scaling an electricity tower in Bang Pa-in district was his votive offering to them.
The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand shut off the power at the location and sent in staff with rescue equipment to help him down.
They tried to used ropes and pulleys to get Mr Boonsong to safety. However, the man lost his grip half way down and fell into a rice paddy field.
Mr Boosong told rescuers that he was in a very confused state of mind.
