In recent years, increased industrial
and agricultural activities have contributed in the generation of a variety
of aquatic pollutants such as, inorganic anions, metal ions, and synthetic
organic chemicals, which have increased public concern about the quality
of drinking water. It has been estimated that around 884 million people
lack access to adequate potable water and 1.8 million children die every
year worldwide from diarrhea mainly due to water contamination [1].
