Crop: Pigeonpea variety PAU-881, grown with the standard agronomic practices as laid down in ‘Package of Practices for Kharif Crops’ (Anonymous 2008 and Anonymous 2009) at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab, India during Kharif 2008-09 and 2009-10, was taken for the study. After attaining optimum grain maturity (majority of the pods turn brown) the crop was harvested manually.
