2.8. Nuclear DNA profiling
AmpF‘STR1 Identifiler1 Plus STR analysis kit (Life Technologies)
was used to amplify the DNA extracts to yield a DNA profile.
For most of the DNA extracts (57/60) the amplification was
conducted in either a final volume of 25 mL with an ideal input of
1.0 ng of DNA template added to each reaction, or a final reaction
volume of 12.5 mL with approximately 0.5 ng of DNA template
added to each reaction. For those cases with low yields of DNA
(3/60), as close to the optimal amount of DNA was added to the
