Participation in a physical activity such as creative
improvisational dance led to enhanced awareness of
connections between body and mind and to personal
growth. Participation opened possibilities to interpret
the lives the informants had lived. Telling personal
memories by performing bodily movements
seemed to give opportunities to come to terms with
some aspects of their lives and to strengthen ego
integrity, hence increasing perceived quality of life.
To offer physical activities such as dance for elderly
persons can be one physiotherapy intervention for
promoting good health in the elderly.
