The results of the few previous comparative studies between FT and
PR children have generally offered a negative picture of PR children as
showing general delays in all the areas explored by the NBAS. In the majority
of the cases the group of PR children evaluated was of very low
birthweight (VLBW) or lowbirth weight (LBW), or presented additional
medical complications. In relation to neurobehavioral organization,
there are some authors, however, that have stated that preterm children
must not be thought of as deficient full-term organisms
