Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is one of the most important
vegetable crops grown in Egypt, which occupies a great figure
in the local consumption and export. Common bean is widely consumed
as vegetables and as dry seeds. The cultivated area in Egypt
for snap bean and dry seed was nearly 30 and 35 thousand hectares
(ha = 10,000 m2), and produced about 306 and 101 thousand metric
tons respectively, in the season of 2011 (EMARS, 2012)
