Over the last few decades, anthropic impact in coastal areas has been increasing intensely, resulting in significant alterations to the fauna and flora found in this environment (Steiner and Leatherman, 1981; Barros, 2001).
On many of the world’s urban sandy beaches, most of the dunes have been completely removed to build roads and buildings (Ranwell and Boar, 1986).
Moreover, leisure activities are also a potential source of environmental impact (Jaramillo et al., 1996).
