Thailand coach Kiatisak Senamuang is hoping that he will be able to work out a ploy in time that will help his men overcome the height disadvantage they will encounter against Australia on Tuesday.
The two sides clash in a Group B match of the final phase of Asian qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup finals at Rajamangala National Stadium.
The mighty Australians are in second place in the group with eight points, two behind Saudi Arabia. They are followed by Japan (seven) and the United Arab Emirates (six).
Iraq are in fourth spot with three points, while Thailand are at the bottom of the six-team group and are without a point.
So far, the Thais have lost all of their four matches against Saudi Arabia, Japan, the UAE and Iraq, and are desperate to open their account.
Kiatisak, a former Thailand international, said: "This is an important match for our team as we need to pick up at least one point from it.
"Australia are a very strong team. We will be going into the match as the underdogs, so we have nothing to lose.
"Many of their stars play in the European leagues like their captain Mile Jedinak, who is with Aston Villa.
"The Australian players are much taller than our players and they are quite good in the air. Their overall football skills are also very good.
"It won't be an easy game for us."
Kiatisak, however, insisted that his players were in a confident mood and can give the Australians a tough time on Tuesday.
"We have tested our tactics repeatedly and also played a warm-up game among ourselves. I am sure that the players are ready and it will be a close game with Australia.
