The genus Pleciobates is distributed throughout Southeast Asia (Andersen 1982a) and was reviewed by Zettel and Chen (1996a), and three species were recognized. A record from India is questionable because the generic position of Pleciobates indicus Thirumalai is still unsettled (Zettel and Thirumalai 2000). Similar to other members of Ptilomerinae, males and females can be identified based on genitalic and nongenitalic structures, respectively (Zettel and Chen 1996a). Members of this genus are found in the current of streams (Chen and Zettel 1998a). Although only one species was reported from Thailand (Chen and Zettel 1998a), two species were collected in this study.
