Fig. 7 shows the CO2 levels at the five monitoring sites. The CO2
levels at S1F, S2F, S3F, and S4F were significantly higher than those
at OR (all p < 0.001) about 1.3e1.5 times. The CO2 levels at S2F, S3F,
and S4F were also significantly higher than those at S1F (all
p < 0.003). The CO2 levels at waiting areas were likely elevated by
bus exhaust and the passengers exhaling, and this CO2 accumulated
inwaiting areas due to poor ventilation. Chan (2005) demonstrated
that CO2 levels inside buses were about 2500 ppm and 1900 ppm in
urban areas and on highways, respectively, in Hong Kong. Huang
and Hsu (2009) and Hsu and Huang (2009) suggested that CO2
levels inside buses were 960e1500 ppm on highways in Taiwan.
The CO2 levels in the bus terminal were significantly lower than
those measured inside buses about 0.5e0.8 times.
