More than 140,000 mini wind turbines (60 to 200 watts) operate in China, of which more
than 110,000 are located in Inner Mongolia. The annual production of mini wind turbines
exceeds 21,000 units in the region. The Chinese government forecasts that the total
installed capacity of mini wind turbines will be 30 megawatts in 2000 and 140 megawatts in
2020, with total energy generation of 90 and 450 gigawatt hours, respectively.
