The National Health Foundation and the Thailand Research Fund sponsored the study by the Public Health Ministry’s Dental Health Division.
To select snacks for their tests, researchers surveyed 871 children aged 3 to 12 in lopburi to identify their top 10 sweets.
Researchers pinpointed 49 items and classified them into 13 groups.
Forty-eight children were chosen to test the cariogenic, or cavity-causing, potential of tested snacks.
