The second transition appears at 114.37 C (Ta)
and is attributed to the melting of the crystalline part. From
Table 2, which summarizes the values of the different
transition temperatures, it is noted that the grafting of NR
with MAH did not have a significant effect on its Tg. However,
while the grafting of PP did not affect much the Tb
transition, there was an important shift of its Ta which
decreased from 114.37 C to 107.5 C. This decrease means
that the chemical modification of PP slightly reduced its
crystallinity. This is another reason that justifies the moderate
concentration of maleic anhydride that was used.
