Okay, now this is one of the craziest stories I’ve heard in a long time…
A 47-year-old mother from Cumming, GA was recently jailed for trying to buy a real-life baby on Craigslist. For her 14-year-old daughter. Yup.
The woman, named Elaine, posted a Craigslist ad searching for unwanted babies. She told police that her adolescent daughter wanted a baby of her own, and was determined to get one “with or without” her help. So, she decided to do the bidding for her.

In the shocking online ad, Elaine told mothers they could anonymously drop off their babies in a “baby box.” She also listed specific instructions and requests for a drop-off.

But Elaine’s plan was eventually thwarted, thank God. Scroll down to see what happened when police received a tip from a concerned Craigslist user…

A 47-year-old woman from a town outside Atlanta, GA was recently caught trying to purchase a newborn baby off Craigslist. She told police that her 14-year-old daughter desperately wanted a baby, and was planning on finding a way to get one “with or without” her help. So, she decided to help her daughter get a baby by soliciting one online.

Elaine posted an ad on Craigslist entitled, “Home for your newborn baby” and listed her requests, like including a birth certificate and health records, along with the baby’s belongings. “A DISABLED CHILD MAY NOT be placed in the baby box,” it said.
She also wrote that mothers could drop off their unwanted babies in her “baby box” if they wanted to remain anonymous.

Baby boxes exist in central and eastern European countries. However, these are authorized by the government and managed by actual medical staff and maternity units.

Sadly, police say there were a few people who offered to sell their babies to Elaine. But before any buying or selling took place, a concerned tipster alerted police to the online ad. It has since been removed from Craigslist, but the story is going massively viral.
Elaine was arrested by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department for “unlawful advertisement and inducement for adoption of children.” Her 14-year-old daughter, who was not named nor her face shown because of her age, faces related charges in juvenile court.
