Referring to the 1988 US Army hand anthropometric survey report (Greiner, 1991), the present study selected 70 hand dimensions as those applicable to glove design and then classified them into three dimensional categories (length, circumference, and breadth) (see Table 2). The anthropometric survey report presents statistical analysis information such as descriptive statistics, correlation coefficients, and regression equations for 84 hand and arm dimensions. The selected hand dimensions were classified
according to dimension type (48 length dimensions, 11 circumference dimensions, and 11 breadth dimensions) for correlation analysis because anthropometric dimensions of the same dimension type tend to be more closely related to each other (Rosenblad- Wallin, 1987; Roebuck, 1995).
