The project “Improving the Border Laser Cutting Process” aims to find the cutting parameters of the Border Laser machine for cutting 2 mm workpieces with a 20% increase in defects by using a fishbone diagram to analyze the cause of the problem and study the data. experimental design The first step is to study the variables that affect cutting. Selecting factors to test Set the conditions used in the experiment, conduct the experiment, and record the results of the first experiment. It was found that the best values for all three parameters were a cutting speed of 5 meters per second, a maximum power of 80%, and a cutting pressure of 6 bar when cutting the workpiece. and compare the results obtained from the original variables with the new variables. It was found that the workpieces cut with the new variable had a smooth cutting surface on all 4 sides but had more metal shavings than before. The second experiment was to reduce the cutting scrap to less than the workpiece cut with the original parameters. Using a cutting speed of 5 m/s and using data analysis from the 1st experiment to determine conditions in the 2nd experiment when the best variable was obtained from the 2nd experiment, namely cutting speed 5 m/s, maximum power 80. % and a cutting pressure of 7 bar, the workpiece obtained by cutting with the second experimental parameter had a smoother surface and less chips than the original parameter. When using the values obtained from the second experiment to cut 100 pieces, find the percentage of cutting to compare before and after the improvement. It was found that the cutting percentage was 97%, an increase from the original 32.2%, which achieved the set objective.
