Bryde's whale can be found around shoreline. During
rainy season in August, fresh water from the river (
Chaopraya, Barngtaboon, Mae Klong, Tha jeen river)
will run to the ocean and bring nutrients to the bay and
become “peat”. Peat is food for plankton. Anchovy,
mackerel, and other small fishes will come to eat
plankton, which then attract bryde's whale to come
and eat these small fishes. Bryde's whale can be seen
only 1-2 kilometers from the shore during August to
October.
The most frequent spot for seeing bryde's whale is
Tha-jeen estuary and Chaopraya river estuary in
Bangkhuntian.
They will start moving to the west in October, their
route depends on small fishes movement.
Bryde's whale will cornered small fishes then came up
on water surface in right angle and widely open their
mouth and take in all small fishes then return in water.
There are around 20-25 bryde's whale in 4-30 kilometers
distance from coastal.
