Depending on their characteristics, conceptual models and frameworks such as those developed in ecosystem services,DPSIR, and modified DPSEEA (mDPSEEA16) have a variety of
uses including: a) as conceptual frameworks for problem framing and elicitation; b) as scientific tools for understanding and predicting complex human-environment and ecosystem
interactions; c) as tools to guide management and policy decision making and responses; and d) as communication tools for interaction with stakeholders.
