With nearly 25km of coastline you are spoiled for choice. Each beach and its community is different, offering the virtual seclusion of Bang Sak to the family friendly Bang Niang. Pak Weeb is generally regarded as the most beautiful but Khuk Khak is increasing in popularity, particularly among those who just love walking and dropping in for a drink, snack or meal or even relaxing on a lounger at one of the simple, local beach restaurants that are springing up there. Khao Lak (South), Sunset and Nang Thong Beaches are mostly used by the guests of the resorts located there.
The topography of the area was significantly affected by the dreadful effects of the Boxing Day 2004 Tsunami and there are few updated maps showing the remarkable regeneration of the area and its rebirth as a major tourist destination.
