In an interview in Kolkata on 16th July 2011 at Hotel Hayyat International, Mr. D. K. Jaiswal, the Chairman and Managing Director of HHI Group of Hotels, a business magnate who is in the same sector for more than three decades and brimming with experience and knowledge, also has a strong association with different chambers of commerce both in India and abroad, believes that West Bengal as a state, has an immense opportunity as an investment destination in hospitality sector.
From his viewpoint, the quality of service, which a customer receives in Thailand, is unmatched. The approach in which the customers in Thailand are entertained, the amenities that are extended and the world-class equipments and skilled and trained resources that are employed are unparallel. The inclusion of IT in their service process has added more convenience to their customers’ experience and in their service quality. To put it in very simple words - ‘they know the art and science of delighting a customer.’ It is also believed in global corporate community that often business executive who makes corporate expedition to India, first takes a small vacation in Thailand to experience the service and then progress to India.
Discussing further on the opportunity and profitability, Mr. D.K. Jaiswal strongly feels that a business venture made in the sector in the state will positively add growth to the investor’s business portfolio. The reason behind such a thought is an increase in frequency of flights, both domestic and international. Consequently the number of footfalls in the state has increased manifolds. Now by applying simple demand-supply economic theory we understand the reason for high price charged for the hotel rooms in the state. Speaking on the same line, Mr. Jaiswal added that in his opinion, an investment to cater to the demand of the customers belonging to middle section would be an ideal area of investment.
Mr. D.K Jaiswal also touched upon his organization prospect growth plans both domestically and in international arena. He mentioned his business group’s resort project in Kigali, Rwanda. The Rwandan government provides investment incentive to his group.
