Cells and culture conditions
RINm5F, Rattus norvegicus (rat) cell line was obtained from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC, Manassas, USA). RINm5F cells were cultured in RPMI-1640 medium supplemented with 10 % fetal bovine serum, 1 % antibiotic-antimycotic solution and incubated at 37 °C in a humidified atmosphere containing
5 % CO2.
In vitro cytoprotective study
To investigate cytoprotective effect of D. reticulata extract on alloxan-induced RINm5F cell damage, the experiment was carried out according to the procedure described earlier [18] with minor modifications (different incubation periods).
