Hematopoiesis is the production and development of blood cells which originate from hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow. Identification of hematopoietic stem cells are defined by their ability to proliferate and differentiate of the hematopoietic lineages consist myeloid stem cells and lymphoid stem cells. Myeloid stem cells make monocytes, macrophages, red blood cells, platelets and granulocytes (basophils, eosinophils and neutrophils). Lymphoid stem cells make T-lymphocytes (T-cells), B-lymphocytes (B-cells) and Natural kill cells (NK-cells ). Hematopoietic stem cells grow and develop from immature blood cells to mature blood cells has a function in the body such as white blood cells are part important role to immune system in the body. The process of hematopoiesis can be demonstrated in Fig 1.
