The quartiles of uric acid observed were: < 3.0; 3.0-3.9;4.0-4.8; and≥4.9. Table 2 shows that the group consisting of individuals from the 4th quartile (percentile > 75th for uric acid values) showed significantly higher values of BMI, WC, SBP, DBP, TG, and HOMA-IR, and lower mean of HDL-C
