ASEAN Free Trade Area
ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, is a regional organization established in 1967. The ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) is formed in 1991 to enhance ASEAN's competitiveness as a production base geared for the world market.
The AFTA logo shows the transformation of the rice stalk in the existing ASEAN logo into a solid, forward-moving form, depicting the dynamic movement of the ASEAN Member Countries towards stronger economic ties in a free trade area. The horizontal parallel bars represent the equal position and mutual cooperation among ASEAN Member Countries.
