As shown in Fig. 4a the results showed that the maximum
activity obtained was 7 U/ml by using 1% (w/v) after 24 h. However
at the same time, the presence of high amount of coloring materials,
waxes, unsaponifiable matter and other indigestible materials
slowed C. rugosa growth. Fig. 3b shows the time course for growth
of C. rugosa during lipase production using different concentrations
of fatty acids residues. The maximum cell mass obtained was 1.4 g/l
by using 1.5% fatty acids residues. Also, presence of the above
mentioned materials have an adverse effect on the production rate
of the enzyme. Fig. 3c shows the time course of lipase production
using 1% fatty acids residues, where the results showed that at the
maximum activity of 7 U/ml after 24 h, the protein content was
0.15 mg/ml.
