None of the 30 isolates displayed lipase (C14)activity, in contrast other lipolytic activities such as esterase (C4) and esterase-lipase (C8) activities were present in most of them. β-glucuronidase activity was observed only in a few isolates. According to Humblot et al. (2007), β-glucuronidase activity is undesirable in the
host colon since it may convert procarcinogens into carcinogens.
