The original computer network design has led to an enormous growth and innovation, yet the network itself
remains very fragile, hard to manage and quite hard to change. One root cause of these problems is that control, management and forwarding functions are intertwined tightly, with the overly complicated control plane and management plane running on top of almost all routers throughout the network. In this paper, we propose a 3N architecture, which introduces the separated forwarding network, control network and management network to repartition these functions. And we presented a high level overview of 3N architecture and some research considerations for its realization. We hope that these initial works will attract the attention of the research and industrial communities to further explore this kind of
architecture.
