The results obtained showed significant decrease in parasitaemia
of P. berghei infected mice treated with the ethanolic root and
bark extract of C. sieberiana [Tables 1 and 2]. This significant
suppression of parasitaemia observed was dose dependent (P
< 0.05). The crude root extract (300 mg/kg) caused 55.8%
suppression and the crude stem extract (300 mg/kg) caused
63.9% suppression in parasitaemia of P. berghei infected mice
while chloroquine a standard antimalarial drug (5 mg/kg)
exerted 96% suppression.
