Comparison between the ignition delay times of the two studied
ketones is shown in Figs. 8 and 9 for stoichiometric and lean
mixtures, respectively. Stoichiometric 3-buten-2-one/O2/Ar mixtures
have longer ignition delay times compared to 2-butanone
for all tested conditions. This difference in ignition delay times
between 3-buten-2-one and 2-butanone is more pronounced at
lower temperatures compared to high temperatures where the
ignition delay times are merging especially at high pressures. For
lean mixtures (Fig. 9), the trends seen in Fig. 8 are now reversed
where 3-buten-2-one is igniting faster than 2-butanone and the
difference in ignition delay times is now more pronounced at high
temperatures and high pressures (6.5 atm).
