As a Postmodernist structure, the building incorporates elements of both the old and the new into a single composition, it responds to the Neoclassical architecture of the old State Gallery and other neighbouring buildings through the use of Neoclassical elements such as gabled roofs, striated stone banding and arched openings. On the other hand, it also incorporates organic shapes and new materials to reflect the new. These organic forms, such as the entrance lobby structure with its curvedglass and—steel facade, are painted in bright industrial colours such as green and pink. The building design not only incorporates these contrasting forms and materials but also JLIXIBPOSGS them in unexpected ways to highlight the contrast and create a dialogue between the forms.
