Many parts of G. cowa have been used in traditional folk medicine. For example, the barks, latex and roots have been used as an antifever agent [21] while the fruits and leaves have been used for indigestion, improvement of blood circulation and used as an expectorant [22]. Although,more than 86 compounds have been isolated from the twigs,stems, fruits and latex, this is the first report on chemical constituents from the roots of this plant
