Compared with nondrinker (0 g/d), very light drinker (0.1–5 g/d) was associated with decreased risk of metabolic syndrome (Fig. 2, pooled RR 0.86, 95% CI: 0.75–0.99) while heavy drinker (>35 g/d) was associated with increased risk of metabolic syndrome (Fig. 2, pooled RR 1.84, 95% CI: 1.34–2.52).
